Ackee is the national fruit of jamaica. It can be poison if eaten before it's ripe but I don't think the intention here was to poison me! Ackee is a fruit of the Sapindaceae family, as are the lychee and the longan. It is native to tropical West Africa.
Captain William Bligh took the fruit from Jamaica to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, England, in 1793 where it was given a scientific name. The regular English name Ackee is derived from the West African Akan-language name akye fufo.
